Date: Nov 24, 2020

Everett, Wash. – Today, the Port of Everett opens a third round of funding opportunity as part of its Economic Development Grant for Evolution (EDGE) program – a Port Commission adopted initiative aimed at giving commercial tenants and subtenants an opportunity to get an ‘edge’ on their COVID-19 recovery.

Program eligibility has been expanded to better align with business response and recovery needs related to Washington State’s evolving ‘Safe Start’ Phased Reopening Plan to encompass any and all reopening phase(s), business-specific guidance and/or public health recommendation(s)/best management practices to resume or reopen. This funding opportunity covers eligible expenses from April 1 – December 31, 2020.

In June, the Port Commission allocated $50,000 to fund EDGE in 2020, with individual grants to be issued up to $5,000. To date, five tenants received grant awards at a combined total of $17,420. Remaining funds are eligible to applicants in this third and final round for 2020.

EDGE applications are being accepted now through Monday, December 21 by 5 p.m. Applications must be submitted electronically at www.portofeverett.com/EDGE.

About the EDGE Program

The Port of Everett’s Economic Development Grant for Evolution (EDGE) is a Port Commission adopted initiative to assist commercial tenants and subtenants with resumption and/or reopening of business operations in alignment with Washington State’s ‘Safe Start’ Phased Reopening Plan. The intent of the EDGE program is to provide economic development resources to implement business requirements, public health guidance and/or associated measures (i.e. installing plexiglass, procuring additional equipment to support social distancing, purchasing personal protective equipment (PPE), etc.).

Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements including being a commercial tenant or subtenant located on Port of Everett property, and whose business has been closed to the public and/or operating under modified operations as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and associated Washington State stay home and/or phased reopening requirements.
